June 2018 - I just gave Internal Medicine Grand Rounds at Baylor University Medical Center on the topic of coronary calcium scoring. It was a big honor for me and it took me 6 months to prepare for the talk. We do about 150 calcium scores a month at Baylor Heart and Vascular Hospital. The test has a valuable role in determining the presence of coronary artery disease both for screening and in some symptomatic patients. Many insurances now cover the cost of the test, but even if they don't it is relatively inexpensive. Please ask me about it if you would like more information.
